|
|
Is it possible to link an excel spreadsheet with a Dplot graph? I am working with some spreadsheets and exported data to DPlot graphs. Now I have found an error in my spreadsheet and need to correct it which changes all of the data points that I plotted. Do I need to make all new graphs again or is there a way that can link the two files so that it would automatically update all of the graphs when I change the data?
Thanks,
Janet |

Yes, but it probably won't be much help in this case. The link is only active as long as both DPlot and your spreadsheet in Excel remain open. (Links are not saved to DPlot files, in other words.) As soon as you close either the DPlot document or the Excel sheet, the link is severed.
If I've misunderstood what you want to do, take a look at the DPlot Help file's "Insert Link" topic. _________________ Visualize Your Data

Wandering through past posts:

This is no longer true, and hasn't been for the past several versions. Links are now saved to DPlot files, and when you reopen a DPlot file it will attempt to reestablish the link. So if your Excel spreadsheet has changed, the plot in DPlot will change as well. _________________ Visualize Your Data

To DPlotAdmin,
Yes this is true on the DPlot side.
I used this feature to copy a 3D Scatter Plot and paste special with link in excel. When I open excel it tries to update the link to no avail as it tries to launch dplot.exe and gives an error. |

Excel is relying on some sort of OLE gizmo that DPlot doesn't use (and won't in future releases). There's nothing to be done about this one, sorry.
From your mail:

Nothing to do with the trial vs. the licensed version. What you're hoping to happen isn't going to happen. _________________ Visualize Your Data
