Thanks for your quick reply! Your solution (Operate on X and Operate on Y) worked just fine. Could this behavior be made into a 'check box' option on the 'Polar Options' dialog though? Since negative distance is not permitted in polar coordinates, the convention is to interpret it as a positive dist...

Polar Plots - Option to Handle Negative Radius Values

Hello, I ran into a situation where I have a polar equation which can generate negative radius (Y) values for some ranges of angle (X). Can you add an option on the Linear/Log Scaling | L. Polar Coordinates | Polar Options dialog to "Force Positive Radial Values" (or some such name) which ...

David, I tried to reproduce the crash with several of the same data files I plotted during development of 'split' but have not been able to recreate it. I'm can't remember if I used the first split.dll before I downloaded the 2nd version. Maybe the crash occurred with the first version of the dll. I...

David, thanks for advice on how to do this! Please note that my initial post shows incorrect equation for Z: Z = 1+2.0*sin(75*t). The equation accompanying David's reply with my example plot has the correct equation: Z = t+2.0*sin(75*t) Also, once the data is imported from Excel, there are a few maj...

Yes, I see the same cutoff help text for the "Split at Y=" (and I too am using WinXP). I also was able to crash DPlot (in the form of silent close of application) by selecting one of my two curves generated from recorded data. However, the main item I wanted to mention is that the newly ge...

Added Notes Potentially Hidden

I just discovered that when a note is newly created it may be hidden by the legend box if the latter is located in the upper-left corner of the graph window. Even though I now know to look there, it still requires dragging away the legend box in order to grab the note to move it to the desired locat...

I tested your method and got the desired result - illusion of a single curve which cleanly makes the color transition(s) with no artifact lines (the false condition value plotted as a 'flatline') Regarding your to-do list, do you mean providing what essentially would be a 'lift-pen' command string t...

Conditional Curve Color for 2D Y=F(X,Y1,Y2,...) Plots

Here's a suggestion for a new feature: Provide ability to define a Y-value threshold for a curve below which one color is plotted and above which another color is plotted. A colleague of mine for whom I generated 2D curves X, Y1, Y2, and (Y1-Y2) wanted to more clearly see when the derived curve, the...

3D Parametric Equations, Cylindrical & Spherical Coordin

Do you have any plans to extend 3D capabilities to allow representing 3D parametric equations? Also, like 2D polar coordinates, in conjunction with 3D it would be nice to be able to represent equations in cylindrical or spherical coordinates. Check out the following website for capability I'd like t...

Vertically Oriented Note Box - Center & Right Justify Bu

Hello,

I just noticed in the latest version (2.2.9.4) that when one attempts to either Center or Right justify text in a VERTICALLY oriented note box that the text will get redrawn outside of the box area. (I confirmed that justification works in a horizontally oriented note box).

Hello. While doing some math exercises out of a book, I got a chance to use the 3D ability of DPlot (nice to be able to do rotations with CTRL-arrow keys!) I noticed that the axes are drawn as "far walls (3 faces) of a 1/2 cube" which are oriented such that the extent of the 3D object fits...

Adding Random "Noise" to y=f(x) Generated Curve

Hello David,

I would like to use DPlot to create a graphic file to imbed in a document which illustrates a digitally sampled "noisy" sinewave. However, I noticed that DPlot does not provide a "random" function. Can you add this function?

Thanks,
