The GPS (Global Positioning System) data mapped here was captured with a Garmin Edge 205... but there's a bit more to it than that. First the data from the GPS was loaded into SportTracks and saved as a GPX file. Then GPSBabel was used to read the GPX file and save a GPX file that could be understood by the Google Maps API (The SportTracks-produced GPX file results in a "The XML loader could not parse document" error). And finally the GPX file was edited to remove the <trkseg>, </trkseg> pair and replace all occurrences of "trk" with "rte". That last step is more a limitation of this script than a problem with the file. Whew. Works, though :-)
Note that the Garmin seems to have lost its mind temporarily on Union Avenue. Next time I'll try 1 second intervals and see if it's better or worse. Elevation and speed recordings are, unfortunately, nonsense in all tests so far, unless you believe I've ridden my bicycle 450 ft above the ground, down a 46% grade at 189mph. Hey... it could happen!
