David,
The current version (2.1.3.2) is drawing the graph quite a bit slower than previous versions. I am using .txt data files that I have oppened before and have even turned off all other programs. The performance has gone from almost instant graphing to a wait long enough that I have shut the program down, with a 'program not responding' flag. |

You might have missed this in the previous update message:
| Quote: | | Please note: This update contains one revision that might have a significant impact on DPlot's performance, particularly if you frequently work with large data sets (many thousands of points). The "Antialias objects..." (previously symbols only) option on the Options>General dialog is checked then all curves will be drawn using a custom antialiasing routine. While this change will in most cases result in more attractive graphs, it is of course quite a bit slower than drawing normal solid lines with no regard for aliasing. For new installations this option is turned off by default; for updated installations DPlot will keep whatever "Antialias symbols..." setting you were previously using. If you work with large data sets you will likely want to turn this option off (select General on the Options menu) and use it only as needed. |
Not really mentioned above is that antialiasing, along with taking a long time for large data sets, doesn't look good at all in this case. I probably need to force this setting off for more than a few thousand points... which I considered doing but rejected because there are bound to me special cases where it would still work reasonably well.
In any case, try unchecking the "Antialias objects..." box. If that isn't the problem (though I'm fairly sure it is), please let me know. _________________ David Hyde

Thank you,
I missed that.
It now seems to be the same speed as old versions. |

Just out of curiosity, and as a possible upper bound on an automatic switch for that setting, how many points/curve are in your file? _________________ David Hyde
