I am trying to import a graph of a curve (pdf or tiff) and have DPlot provide x,y coordinates from the pdf / tiff file. Is this possible?

No. You need a digitizer. A good one that I've used many times is DigitizeIt. Link at the bottom of http://www.dplot.com/other.htm
