Plotting in "Polar Coordinates"

Post by aesculap »

Hello Mr. Hyde,

this morning I was trying the "Polar Coordinates" plotting option of 2D-data. I think this part of your program needs some attention. :?
- There seems to be no way to label the axes.
- The 90°-mark is overlapped by the second, third and fourth title; the plot is resized, but I think a vertical movent of the plot is missing.
- Many options are available but do no effect the plot, for example the "Multiple Axes..." or the menue-options under "Options / Grid Lines or Box / ...", and should therfore not be visible (as usual in your program).
- And the "Angles from 0 to +-180" setting in the "Polar Plot Options" - dialog is not stored in the grf-file.

I use the current version.

Regards.

Thanks for your input. I'll work these out before the next release.

Labeling the axes has been mentioned before, though, and since you brought it up: Where would you suggesting placing those labels?

I's a matter of taste, I think. One under the plot (for the angle) and one on the right (for the radial axis) seems natural to me.

"The 90°-mark is overlapped by the second, third and fourth title; the plot is resized, but I think a vertical movent of the plot is missing. "

Aaarrrgghh. The problem is actually much worse than this and effects all scale types, depending on whether you force the size of the plot (or in the case of polar plots, use the default "Force circular plots" option). This bug was introduced while trying to rearrange some things such that imported images placed outside the plot extents would (in most cases) not be clipped. I'll definitely fix this one as soon as possible. Thanks for pointing out the problem.

The overlapping title lines problem has been fixed. Others will be addressed when I catch my breath. Thanks for pointing out the problem.
