contour plot with xy locations of data points

Post by chljl »

I am doing contour plots and wish to add xy locations of my data points on the contour plot. Not too many points so should not mess us the graph. How can I do it?

On the "Contour Options" dialog, check "Data Points" under "Draw".

If you want the X,Y and/or Z values you'll have to do that point-by-point with "Label Points" on the Text menu. This only works with 2D views.

No, sorry. You can adjust the size, but they'll always be black squares.

New issue: after drawing the points and saving as emf/wmf picture, size of picture becomes very large: without points 60k, with points 16M. Only have 13 points. Exporting to other picture formats works fine. Also, copy/paste to word/excel file size becomes much larger with drawing points.

PS: found that the issue is related to the size of the points. If I don't adjust the symbol size, no issues. If I adjust the symbol size, large emf/wmf pictures are produced.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into it. Off the top of my head my guess is those black squares are being drawn point-by-point, rather than with a simple rectangle.
